A Change Of Scenery
They say
a change of scenery is as good as a vacation. It's very
good for the soul; a little spontaneity goes a long way
too!
This past weekend my friend's boyfriend was supposed to
come into town for the weekend. My friend called on Friday
evening around 5pm to say he wouldn't be able to make it.
After having two full weeks jammed with activity I was
exhausted and feeling like I needed a change. So I asked
her if she felt like driving up to him.
Now this isn't an easy feat to do last minute considering
her boyfriend lives 7 hours away and she has two small
children ages three and five, and I have a Jack Russell
Terrier who hates the car and it was too last minute to
find a dog sitter. Her only response was, "Are you
serious?" Well I was and apparently so was she; by 7pm my
friend, her two children, my dog and I were on the road.
The weekend was marvelous; I was relaxed and surrounded by
loving friends. All the tension from the previous two weeks
melted away. There's nothing like the country air.
When was the last time you did something spontaneous?
With the summer approaching you may or may not have time
for a full out vacation. If you don't consider creating
some impromptu weekends away. Visit friends or family, or
just find a place to pitch a tent and do something
different.
A little change of view and pace will do wonders for your
power of creation.
